Spider Kisses and Bad Tamales

The week started off good as Tuesday morning I peaceful woke up fo a giant fat eye from a spider bite recieved in the night. We went over to the neighbors, they put some cream on my eyelid, and we made our way to the weekly district council meeting. I
am sure it must have been distracting for my district as I talked to thme about putting bautizmal dates while looking like the Hunchback from Notre Dame, but it was still spiritual, and my eye was back to normal size by the end of the council. That was only
the beginning of the fun though, as at night my comp and I decided to buy some tamales for dinner from one of the many men in our neighborhood who ride around on their bycycles with a huge pot of tamales on the front; eat your heart out US Food and Drug Association.
They were good, but maybe too good, as the next morning while walking to the house of a member, I began to feel not that great. And it was even more not so great as we got to the member's house I speedwalked without saying anything to anyone and violently
threw up. The member was nice about it though, let me finish my grudge match with the toliet, and then took us to the farmacia where they diagnosed me with the classic food posioning with fever combo. We got back to the house with the 3 packets of pills they
gave me, and after 2 days of Elder Gutiérrez taking care of me, we were good to go again and had a solid week of work.
A Trip Down Memory Pain
To make up the lost ground, we worked and walked like crazy, which lead to my comp telling me one morning that his calves hurt. Like PTSD, I immediately remembered back to the days were after finishing a track workout, my calves would hurt as well, and
with all the love and care in the world my coach Derek Ellis would grind and dig and push my calves until tears were forced out of my eyes. But, it always worked, and I knew it'd still work. So, with a grin that I'd seen many times on coach Ellis' face, I
told him to lay down on the bed and with lotion in replacement of deep blue, I grinded and dug and pushed the calves of my comp until tears were forced out of his eyes. But, it worked, and minutes later my comp was walking fine, or maybe he was just faking
it to get out of me rubbing his calves out again.Through it all though, as I rubbed out my comps calves, I felt like I was right back on the Lone Peak track on a sunny spring day, with the sounds of runners taking their laps, me screaming in pain and the gently
laugh of Coach Ellis ringing ever so pleasantly in my ears.
El Fin
Through this week was somewhat sabotaged at the start, we worked really hard and had a lot of spiritual moments during it all. We have a lot of people progressing, the only thing that need is to come to church so we are going to be taking that on with
all the gung ho in the world this week. As for you all, I hope you have a fantastic first week of the best month of the year, and I can't wait to talk to you all again soon!
Love,
Elder Jackson
