Praying For Locks

October 28, 2019

WHASGOOD

A nice firm hive five to all those who find themselves reading in this lovely afternoon. Today marks the start of another change here in Querétaro, but for me the only thing that is changing is my agenda, as I am staying here in Colinas with Elder Wimsatt for another change! Super excited, as we are hoping for a big month in November with (knock on wood) 6 baptisms, but we will just have to keep on working to put ourselves in the right place at the right time.

Carside prayers

Earlier in the week my companion and I found ourselves walking in a sketchy part of town late at night; a little girl in our ward who hasn't been baptized had turned 9 a few days earlier and we were bringing a cake over to camouflage talking to her about getting baptized. While walking, we saw a man a little further up the street with his car's hood up. As we passed, he approached us and asking if we had a phone; a question that brought few feelings of comfort. I mean, as if we didn't stick out enough already, the cake was wrapped in bright pink and blue paper just to bring more attention to us. We told him we only had a little brick phone, and to my relief, he began to explain to us that he was just looking for a light to look for lock. Because the area is a little more dangerous, he locked his hood shut with a lock so that no one would still his car battery, but he had dropped in the engine and couldn't find it. With new found comfort, we put the cake on the ground and began to look for the lock. After a few minutes, he started to say that we shouldn't worry about it and that he'd just keep looking, but the thought came to my head to pray to find the lock. So, I quickly explained we were missionaries, asked if we could pray with him to find the lock, and then proceeded to pray with him on that dimly-light roadside. It was one of the weirder spots where I've prayed, but the spirit was strong, and only continued to be stronger as a few minutes after the prayer we found the lock hidden in the engine. With grease-stained fingers and white shirts, we handed him the lock, and began to talk to him a little about the church. We testified to him that it was God who had helped us to find the lock, and asked if we could come by another day to talk to him more about how he can see similar miracles in his life, to which he accepted. Very cool little miracle, and even though we got to the house of the little girl to find it empty, we walked happily headed back home with a pink and blue wrapped cake still in handing, knowing that Heavenly Father had put us in the right place to see His hand act miracles.

El Fin

Happy to have another changer here in Colinas, and I can't wait to see what the future holds! I know this church is true, and that we have a loving Heavenly Father in our lives, available 24/7 to help and bless us. Love you all so much, I hope you have a fantastic week and I will talk to you all again soon!
