(apologies for no email last week, a split for a lession with our zone leaders took the majority of my time to write.)
General Información
Like the School House Rock song says (iykyk) 3 is a magic number, and that's where we are in the month count. This month went a whole lot faster than the other one, as I still feel like it was New Year's yesterday. But, here we are. This week was pretty fast too, as we started with Zone Conference. Our president right now, President Williamson, only has 4 more changes, which means only 4 more conferences with him which is a shame. He has been really good for me to start with, and I am going to miss him. The rest of the week was pretty normal, but on Sunday our baptizm, Hermano Diaz Diaz, got ordained in the presithood! Really special moment, and seeing the progress of your investigators makes all the work worht it.
A Quick Game of Chase With Cholos
Contacting took an intresting turn one week, as we were walking up a little higher in our area where it is a little more sketchy. It was mid-day though so we weren't too worried. While were walking though, we got the feeling to look to the side of us. 2 cholos who had walked by us had stopped and where now following behind us. We took of into a little side street, but sadly all the streets lead to one main one where you can leave. Making our best Olympic Speed Walker impression, we made it to the main street first, but not by much. Luckily, there was a private street a little ahead of us that we ducked into, and even more lucky we ran into a new convert of another ward who let us chill in his house for a little. I am sure though the 2 dudes were just chasing us to ask us about the church and for a lession or something ;)
Readathon
One of the other things that happened with the Zone Confernece though is that we got challanged to read the Book of Mormon in 2 changes. For the Americans, we could read it in English if we wanted, but being a newbie I was one of the last one's to get a book, and they actually ran out of English ones, so I am doing it in Spanish! Before I had a hard time reading in Spanish, but since we have started I have actually been able to understand everything astounishingly well. A big gracias for the Gift of Tongues! But, I have really been feeling the spirit in just these few days, and I have such a strong testimony of the Book of Mormon. I know we can find peace and confort in reading it that we can't find anywhere else in the world.
El Fin
A lot of this week for me has been about my purpose here. After Hermano Diaz Diaz got the preisthood, we were talking and he told me "Por qué ustedes, llegamos aquí" which roughly ranslates to "Because of you two, we arrived here." And, hearing that really hit me hard. As a missionary, you have a big responsiblibity (I know that's not spelled right, sorry, I can spell in English anymore), but with that you have a big opportunity to bless people, and change their lives for eternity. I am forever grateful for these 2 years I have to serve the Lord, and help my fellows Hermanos.
Paz y amor,
Elder Jackson
