Re: Dear Trey
hey Dad!
i am always really happy to get to write you. and yeah, it doesn't feel like Christmas that much here either. the only time is when we walk though the mall and i here some micheal bubble playing. they have lights and stuff up but it's always reallyyy hot.
but maybe that's for the best. and my spanish feels better. i heard that it takes about 6 months to really be confortable with everything. 3 for understanding, 3 more for speaking. i am getting better at understanding, but it's still a little tough. it's defininetly
a learning curve, but i know we will be okay in the end. as for what we eat, we have comidas everyday, and then i pull a Josh and have honey bunches of oats every morning. i got some oatmeal this last week which is nice to mix it up a little. the comidas
are legit mexican food everytime, from gorditas to tacos to soap (soap stuff) to even some intestines and cactus. part of me is worried i am going to have either an acid relex after my mission or be fat, or both. but it's all part of the journey! and funny
enough, we do have hot water, but that's it. we don't have that much cold water which is intresting. our water heater is a legit flame-thrower, i will have to get a video of it for you. really hot water, and the hard part in the mornings is getting it to a
tolerable level. as for our house, i have no idea how it's heated. nights are sometimes hot, sometimes cold but nothing too bad. and yeah i do my own laundry! we got to a laundrymat every friday. not sure how gentle it is on my white shirts but that's okay.
as for teaching, we have 8 investigators. Alexis, a 14 year old boy who has an inactive dad, we are going to try and get a date with him soon. we have talked about it, but he wants a little more time. and then we have the family Diaz Mendoza, who are an older
couple. as i told mom, the lady actually had a dream about her whole family together in the baptizmal fount. but like you said about that lady in your mission, a dream doesn't convert so we have to keep working. Those 3 were at the chapel this sunday, and
we are hoping to get them baptized soon. Our other 4 are Susan, Jocelyn, Gerardo, and Palmona. We are focusing more on Alexis and the Diaz Mendoza's right now though because they are the closest to baptizm. there are a lot of people who are future investigators,
but a lot of people say no too. but that's okay. glad to here that everything is going good with everyone at home! i know it's busy as always. also hope work is good, i know it's a lot at times, i really appreciate all that you do for me and the family more
than i can put into words. look forward to talking to you on the 24, and hope you have a great week. also thanks for the talk about the Attonement, definintely an important aspect. Love you so much Dad!
your son,
Elder Jackson
